H2O cocktails may not sound like the most enticing proposition that your friendly bartender may pitch you, but if you fancy something a little more light and refreshing than your average tipple that packs a sweet punch then these water-based cocktails could well just float your boat. It’s all about infusing the water with fruit.
They key is not just to use any old water (of course). If you like the finest spirits and the very best flavours, then these recipes demand that you add your fruit to only perfectly pure mineral water. Why dampen the experience with dull old tap water?
Seattle-based mixologist, Kathy Casey, came up with the notion of H2O cocktails a couple of years ago now for Purity Vodka (good name). ‘Their master distiller (Thomas Kuuttanen) likes to drink his vodka with a little water in it, so I thought, what if we flavoured the water a bit?’ Kathy told seattlemag.com.
Luckily for us, Kathy presents her own online show so here she is demonstrating how to make two of her H2O cocktails:
