Do your WaterBars remove microplastics recently featured in the news?
Our WaterBars remove all particles larger than 0.6 microns from the water. The plastic particles found in the recent tests at the State University of New York were larger than a human hair which is on average 75 microns across and so microplastics will be removed.
Do WaterBars have any accreditations?

What material is the hot water tank made of?
The hot water tank is made of polypropylene. This material doesn’t secrete chemicals into the water, which can be a problem with bottled water.
Can my children dispense hot water?
There’s an optional hot water child protection lock to keep your little ones (or anyone else) safe.

How much power does a WaterBar use?
All WaterBars are used differently, so it’s hard to say. But we’ve carried out independent testing with the Water Regulation Advisory Service to compare the WaterBar with a domestic kettle and the WaterBar was 32% more energy efficient.
Testing was based on:
· filling four cups with boiling water each day
· having the WaterBar set in energy-saving mode for eight hours a day (like when you’re asleep).
· WaterBar: 0.02 kWh for one cup of boiling water on average – or 128.448 kWh a year.
· Kettle: 0.11 kMh for one cup of boiling water on average – or 169.433 kWh a year.
That means the WaterBar uses 32 per cent less energy than a kettle.[AA1]
Not only that, 75 per cent of people admit they use too much water when boiling the kettle. This uses even more energy. And 40 per cent of UK households boil the kettle more than five times a day. (Source: At Home with Water report, published by the Energy Savings Trust in July 2013.[AA2] )
So, the more you use your kettle, the more energy you could save with a WaterBar.

Does the WaterBar remove fluoride and other minerals maintained in the water?
The WaterBar doesn’t change the mineral composition of the water. It doesn’t remove fluoride or other minerals like calcium or magnesium. Read more about that here.
For further information about fluoride in your water, please ask your local water authority. The fluoridation process varies from authority to authority.
Does a WaterBar treat limescale?
Limescale is just a crystallisation of the natural and healthy minerals calcium and magnesium. Good for you but a bit unsightly in your tea, Our WaterBars don’t filter out limescale (the good minerals), but they do stop them forming of the white flakes in your water. So, unlike your kettle, the WaterBar gives you all the goodness without the grit.

How do the filtration and purification systems within a WaterBar work?
The water first passes through three separate water filters:
- A mesh at the inlet pipe removes larger particles, like dirt.
- A sediment filter removes smaller particles, like rust and sand.
- An activated carbon filter removes organic matter and other contaminants, including 99 per cent of bitter-tasting chlorine.
Our activated carbon filters use a precise combination of different-sized particles to absorb a wide range of contaminators. This process is essential for water purification and filtration systems and is an important component of our WaterBars.
After the filters, the water passes through a UV purification process to kill microorganisms and bacteria.

Is chlorine filtered from the water?
Our WaterBars remove 99% of chlorine and its nasty taste.
Why do WaterBars have UV lamps and how do they work?
The UV lamp used in our WaterBars is a proven purification technology that kills 99.9 per cent of bacteria. This technology is safe to use. The UV system is placed in a closed container so there is no danger of exposure. All of our WaterBars are tested and comply with strict safety standards.
The UV lamp is especially important because after chlorine has been removed from the water, bacteria can grow again. The UV lamp prevents this by killing all microorganisms without changing the water’s composition.
