Worried about how much goodness is actually in that carton of juice or how much badness is in that bottle of beer? Clever boffins over in the US have invented a smart cup that analyses whatever liquid your pour in to it and then tells you its constituents.
The Vessyl cup hooks up to your smart phone and lets you keep track of everything you’ve drunk – helping you to figure out exactly how hydrated you really are, how many calories you’ve consumed and how much sugar and caffeine you’ve had.
The inventors even claim that the wireless Vessyl can detect specific brands of drink as well as cope with yoghurt and smoothies. You can charge it up via the USB port on your computer and stick it in the dishwasher when you’re done (apparently it knows the difference between drinking and washing!).
So what’s the price tag? You can pre-order now from the US at £58 a pop plus £10 shipping for the next couple of days only, or wait until they retail full price at about £117.
We’re yet to see how it copes with non-US branded drinks, but we’re not going to to let that uncertainty prevent us from trying it.
Would you be up for pouring EVERYTHING you drink in to a Vessyl in order to take charge of the what, where, when and how you pour down your throat? We’re up for it if you are…
